Aluminum MacBooks Slide On Certain Surfaces

It's not the biggest deal in the world, but the new aluminum macbooks don't stick to certain table surfaces like the old ones did. For awhile I was convinced that the rubber studs on the new macbooks were cheaper than old ones because it seemed any desk I would put my computer on, it never really stuck to the desk like the old macbook. When I got home for the holidays I put my macbook on a desk with a glass covering over it and I noticed my mac was just about as stuck to a table as a computer can get without having to actually rip it off. When on glass, the new macbooks won't slip and slide at all. I wonder if that was what Apple tested the new rubber studs on? The reason for this post is to remember to be careful with the magsafe power adapter. Although the technology has saved many of our precious macs, with the new macbooks, depending on the surface, the magsafe might not be enough. Try it out, tell me if you find other surfaces to be as sticky as glass.

iPhone Soon To Be Coming to A Wal-Mart Near You

I love the iPhone, don't have one yet, but I do have a iPod Touch, and now after tomorrow, I know where I am going to be purchasing my first iPhone: Wal-mart. As of tomorrow, Wal-mart will carry the 8gb and 16gb iPhones, 8gb w/ 2year contract for $197, and 16gb for $297 (link). From my experience with the Touch, its probably worth the memory upgrade just seeing as how an iPhone can be so much for you. Still the best deal you can find is online. ASUS Brining Fun To The Party

With the recent surge of Netbook sales this past year, along with the rise of laptop sales over desktop sales (link), Asus is among one of the first companies to start thinking ahead. Today they released these photos, but few details of a new wireless keyboard, mouse, and remote designed for their Eee Netbook PCs. Everything is starting to point towards 'Netbooks' as the future. Rumors of Apple working on their Netbook strike me as false(link), just because knowing Apple, they won't join the party, they will start their own. However, with NVidia jumping board and placing 9400M chips inside netbook computers (link), Asus just might be joining one rocking party. 

Free Mac Application Offered For The Holidays

As a holiday giveaway 1Password, the number one password manager for Macs is giving away a free license in exchange for your name and email address. I signed up, got my license with no other emails, and the program is pretty good. The only catch to this whole deal is the version of the 1Password that is offered, although it is a full version, it is not upgradeable with the serial that they provide for you. Problem Installing Windows XP and Vista with Bootcamp on New Aluminum 2.4 Macbook

As much as I like VMWare, I can't resist installing Windows on my new Macbook in order to at least test out how well it can run games. Today I initially wanted to install XP on the bootcamp partition, but in the start of the setup, before even bringing up a Windows screen, the machine freezes with a blank screen with a white blinker at the top corner. I gave the computer 20 minutes, rebooted into OS X, and then ran a bootcamp installation with Vista. After successfully installing Vista, I was going to insert my Apple disc to install the correct drivers when my machine restarted, and then failed to boot up Windows. The error said the partition is bad and to use Windows to partition the drive.

I know the Windows installs are good because they work with VMWare. I can't get a bootcamp install to work. I haven't tried Vista install again, but what I am thinking is that I'll use VMWare to partition the drive in Windows, and then maybe I can get a successful install. I would prefer XP, but if I have to use Vista, whatever. Personally, I think Vista looks better than XP and besides the annoying pop-ups and random error messages, I like it. Anyhow, I'll post in comments when I resolve this.

Still Looking For a Solid Download Manager For Mac

I am an avid rapidshare downloader, and even though I can get by using Safari, I prefer a download manager to allow me to browse and load files and not download all of them at the same time. Also, I prefer that the download manager watch the clipboard for rapidshare links. Saves so much time.

Today I tried two different programs, both pretty disappointing. First, JDownloader. This program initially looked OK, but after using it for a little bit, I encountered many bugs, and really didn't enjoy the interface. I went on to download iGetter. This program seems good, but is $25. I tried to download a crack on rapidshare, but somehow iGetter is the only company in the world that can block the use of their cracked program. My other solution is through VMware, and that works pretty well, but I rather just keep everything native Macintosh on my Mac. Anyways, the search continues as I refuse to actually purchase programs, and download managers should be free! I'll keep you posted if I am able to come up with something better.
